Biography
Dr Emilia M. Szumska, holds a Doctor of Science in Transport from Warsaw University of Technology, awarded in March 2019. Her doctoral thesis, titled "Evaluating the Effectiveness of Alternative Propulsion Systems for Urban Buses," delved into the realm of hybrid propulsion systems. Since 2019, she has served as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Automotive
Engineering and Transport at Kielce University of Technology.
Her research interests span a broad spectrum within the field of electric and hybrid vehicles, including vehicle dynamics and control, design, simulation, and optimization, energy efficiency analysis, as well as the impact of driving conditions and life cycle assessments. Dr Szumska's contributions to academia are significant, with 58 scientific publications to her name, including a chapter in a scientific monograph, and a patent application for a bumper design for a dynamic stress simulation test stand.
Beyond her scholarly endeavours, Dr Szumska has actively participated in various research projects. Notably, she served as the project manager for the research project focusing on investigating the efficiency of hybrid electric vehicles through simulation and experimental studies from 2015 to 2019. Additionally, she contributed as a data analyst and specialist in experimental road tests of vehicles in the project dedicated to supporting the assessment of motor insurance risks.
Furthermore, Dr Szumska has made significant contributions to university organizational work, supervising diploma theses, co-supervising a doctoral dissertation, and holding various administrative roles within the Faculty of Mechatronics and Mechanical Engineering, such as Dean's Proxy for Students with Disabilities and Committee Secretary positions. Dr Szumska's influence extends beyond her university, as evidenced by her editorial board memberships and affiliations. She holds positions in organizing committees and societies related to automotive safety and theoretical and applied mechanics in Poland.
